Project Overview
The OLE Infrastructure Digitization project involved developing an accurate digital representation of existing Overhead Line Equipment within a UK rail station environment to support redevelopment, coordination, and construction planning.
The project required detailed modeling of existing OLE infrastructure alongside surrounding rail assets, platform areas, tracks, and structural elements. OneClick BIM developed a coordination-ready 3D model that provided project stakeholders with improved visibility of existing electrification systems and supported more accurate design development, clash detection, and construction planning.
OneClick BIM's Scope
OneClick BIM was responsible for digitizing the existing OLE infrastructure and developing a coordinated 3D model suitable for multidisciplinary coordination and design review.
The project scope included:
• OLE Infrastructure Digitization
• 3D BIM Modelling of Existing OLE Assets
• Rail Asset Coordination
• Clash Detection Support
• Existing Conditions Documentation
• Detailed 2D Drawing Extraction
• Model-Based Plans, Elevations & Sections
The resulting model provided a structured digital reference for engineering, design, and construction teams involved in the station redevelopment.
Key Challenge
The primary challenge was accurately representing and coordinating OLE infrastructure within an active and asset-heavy rail station environment.
Overhead line equipment interacts closely with tracks, platforms, structural elements, and other railway assets. Any inaccuracies or coordination issues could create design conflicts, clearance concerns, and challenges during construction planning.
A reliable 3D representation was therefore required to improve visibility of the existing infrastructure and identify potential clashes before construction activities.
OneClick BIM's Workflow
Existing Asset Assessment
Available OLE references, rail asset information, and project documentation were reviewed to establish the modeling requirements and identify the infrastructure that needed to be digitized.
OLE BIM Model Development
OneClick BIM developed a detailed 3D model representing the existing overhead line equipment and associated infrastructure within the station environment.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
The OLE model was coordinated with surrounding railway assets, including tracks, platforms, structural elements, and other relevant station infrastructure.
Clash Detection Support
The coordination-ready model was prepared to support clash detection and identification of potential conflicts between OLE infrastructure and surrounding assets.
Drawing Production
Detailed 2D plans, elevations, and sections were extracted directly from the coordinated model to support design review, engineering coordination, and construction documentation.
Final BIM Delivery
OneClick BIM delivered a coordination-ready 3D OLE infrastructure model together with detailed model-derived 2D drawings for the UK rail station redevelopment project.
The final deliverables provided project stakeholders with a clearer digital representation of existing electrification infrastructure, supporting design validation, clash detection, coordination reviews, and construction planning.
