Project Overview
The Production Plant project involved developing an accurate BIM model of an existing industrial production facility in Saudi Arabia using point cloud data. The objective was to create a coordinated digital representation of the plant's piping systems, machinery, and structural framework to support engineering coordination, maintenance planning, and future facility upgrades.
OneClick BIM developed a coordinated LOD 300 BIM model that provided stakeholders with reliable existing-condition documentation, enabling improved decision-making and efficient management of the industrial facility.
OneClick BIM's Scope
OneClick BIM was responsible for converting point cloud data into a coordinated BIM model of the existing production plant.
The project scope included:
• LOD 300 BIM Modelling
• Point Cloud to BIM Conversion
• Piping Modelling
• Machinery Modelling
• Structural Modelling
• Existing Conditions Documentation
• Coordinated BIM Model Development
The coordinated model served as a reliable digital reference for engineering and operational activities.
Key Challenge
Industrial production facilities contain interconnected piping networks, heavy machinery, and structural systems that require precise digital documentation. The challenge was to accurately convert point cloud data into a coordinated BIM model while maintaining consistency across multiple disciplines, ensuring the model could support future maintenance, engineering modifications, and operational planning.
OneClick BIM's Workflow
Point Cloud Assessment
Point cloud data was reviewed to identify existing plant equipment, piping systems, structural elements, and modelling requirements.
BIM Model Development
A coordinated LOD 300 BIM model was developed by integrating piping systems, machinery, and structural components into a unified digital environment.
Coordination Review
The multidisciplinary model underwent quality assurance and coordination reviews to verify geometric accuracy and consistency across all plant systems.
Model Validation
The completed BIM model was validated to ensure reliable documentation for future engineering, maintenance, and facility management activities.
Final BIM Delivery
OneClick BIM delivered a coordinated LOD 300 BIM model developed from point cloud data, providing an accurate digital representation of the production facility. The deliverables supported engineering coordination, maintenance planning, and long-term asset management.
