Project Overview
The Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly is a 9-storey four-star hospitality facility in Manchester, UK, with a distinctive building envelope that forms an important part of the property's architectural identity.
OneClick BIM was engaged to develop an LOD 300 BIM model of the hotel's façade, covering both architectural and structural elements.
The objective was to create a coordinated digital representation of the building envelope, providing project stakeholders with a reliable reference for visualization, design coordination, documentation, and future planning activities.
OneClick BIM's Scope
OneClick BIM was responsible for developing the hotel's façade BIM model across architectural and structural disciplines.
The project scope included:
• LOD 300 BIM Modelling
• Façade BIM Modelling
• Architectural BIM Modelling
• Structural BIM Modelling
• Building Envelope Modelling
• Façade & Structural Coordination
• Digital Façade Documentation
• BIM-Based Visualization
• Design Coordination Support
The model was developed to accurately represent the façade geometry and its relationship with the supporting structural elements.
Key Challenge
The primary challenge was accurately representing the building's façade while maintaining coordination between the architectural envelope and supporting structural elements.
For a large hospitality building, the façade contains numerous geometric relationships that need to remain consistent within the BIM environment. Maintaining accurate façade geometry and alignment with the structural framework was therefore essential for reliable documentation and future project reference.
OneClick BIM addressed this through a structured LOD 300 modelling workflow focused on façade geometry, architectural representation, and structural integration.
OneClick BIM's Workflow
Project Information Review
Available architectural information, façade references and structural documentation were reviewed to establish the modelling requirements.
Façade BIM Development
The building envelope and relevant architectural façade elements were developed into an LOD 300 BIM model.
Structural Integration
Supporting structural elements were modelled and coordinated with the façade to maintain alignment between the building envelope and structural framework.
Coordination Review
The model was reviewed to verify façade geometry, alignment and coordination between architectural and structural elements.
Model Refinement
The coordinated model was refined to provide a consistent digital representation of the hotel's exterior and supporting systems.
Final BIM Delivery
OneClick BIM delivered a coordinated LOD 300 façade BIM model covering the architectural and structural disciplines of Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly.
The final model provided a digital representation of the hotel's building envelope and its relationship with the supporting structural elements, creating a reliable reference for visualization, coordination, documentation and future planning.
